WEDDING
The Beginning
Gloria and Jason met fortuitously through their mutual friend Tiffany. Somewhere in between hangouts at Life Plaza and trips to Irvine, they became friends, although both will adamantly insist that the other person was the first to have romantically-inclined sentiments for the other.
At the time, Gloria was working as a Pharmacy Intern at Rite Aid Pharmacy in Diamond Bar, and Jason was a Verizon Intern for a Verizon Store in Glendale. After work one day, Jason took Gloria on their first date to Bubba Gump Shrimp in Santa Monica where she ordered a beer and he ordered a fruity cocktail with a light-flashing mug. It was summer love.
The Journey
The couple endured 3 years of a "medium" distance relationship and accumualted thousands of frequent flyer miles on Southwest flying between LAX and SFO. Jason was supportive of Gloria as she obtained her Doctor of Pharmacy degree in San Francisco, and Gloria was supportive of Jason and he completed the competitive Verizon Apprentice Program and obtained a position with Verizon Corporate.
Although life was busy for both, they continued to grow in their relationship together, with love, mutual respect, and building a foundation together rooted in God. It wasn't all work work work though - They also found plenty of time to sneak away for weekend trips to New York, Seattle, and Napa Valley!
Gloria eventually moved back to West Covina after pharmacy school. She now works as a pharmacist at Loma Linda University Medical Center. Jason lives in a posh bachelor pad in Irvine and works as a Financial Analyst in San Juan Capistrano.
The two continue to grow together on their journey together, both as individuals and as a couple.
The Proposal
On June 7, 2014, Jason planned a "beach day" for Gloria. Gloria had been wanting to go to the beach to work on her tan (which was, and still is, pretty much non-existent). While driving there, Jason had an odd smirk on his face, which led Gloria to begin to question whether or not this was going to be THE DAY.
It was an overcast day at the beach, and Jason suggested stopping by a new park in Santa Monica overlooking Santa Monica Pier where they had their first date to "check out the architecture." Being always up for new adventures, Gloria happily agreed, although she thought it was a little strange to be going to a park at 8am on an overcast Saturday morning. Little did she know, Jason had scouted out the perfect spot for the proposal the night prior with Gideon, who was hiding in the bushes, ready to capture the special moment. Tiffany and Dan were also there, squatting in the plants, "displacing" homeless folks, and kicking out European tourists from the designated proposal spot prior to Jason and Gloria's arrival.
Then it happened.
Jason surprised Gloria with a photo book that he had made, detailing their adventures together in the last few years. Gloria had made him a very similar book years ago containing their adventures from 2009 - 2011. Jason continued this and documented all of the things they had done together from 2011 - 2014. The last few pages of the photo book detailed his process of making the engagement ring with his Dad. The very last page was purposely left blank with the date "June 7, 2014" written on the bottom and the line "Hope she says yes!".
Then he got down on one knee and proposed. Gloria blurted out "Um! I guess so!" but in her heart, she really meant "A million times yes!"
Then they drank unlimited mimosas and celebrated with family and friends at the beach for the rest of the day. Hooray!
